I love this shot because there is so much going on in it. I was on my monthly pillage day, where I drive from Montara Mountain down to Pescadero to pillage for anything green that suits my fancy, when I took this picture. I found wild yarrow shoots in abundance and dug up a few of those along the highway. I collected some early blossoming columbine flowers for pressing, and some dandelion root for tea. Oh, and bark. Lots and lots of bark. For what, I’m not sure yet.
Anyway, in this gorgeous patch of weeds I see thistle…. what do you see?

I am stretching my imagination looking at your picture. I see greens growing with tremendous energy. I see something resembling a tiny cucumber.. I could be wrong.. ~bangchik
A good place to install a little garden gnome.
Ha! I didn’t think of it in those broader terms… ok now I change my answer to a good place to hide dirty laundry!
I do see edible cleavers/sticky weed. Fun to toss in anothers hair or top off a salad.:)
Ha! I see my garden! Well, parts of it anyway…except I may have a smidge more Miner’s Lettuce
Went scrabbling through our ‘weed patch’ yesterday…found some Solomon’s Seal, Clintonia, Anemone, TONS of Trillium. Often what first appears as just weeds, is sometimes so much more!
What caught my attention was the small brown object near the centre of the photo. At first glance, I thought it was a butterfly.
But looking more carefully it seems more like a seedhead, or possibly part of a cactus. It’s probably neither.
Or it could be a butterfly, with camouflaged markings, to make it look like part of a cactus.
I see a weed (<-such a strong word!) that my kids and I call "spike-a-dinosoarus" Looks quite prehistoric and hurts a lot when stepped on in bare feet!
